đź‘· Sunsave has been built to last
In an industry where solar installers regularly come and go, we’ve built the foundations to ensure that Sunsave is around for many years to come.
Our innovative product has attracted financial backing from a wide range of investors, including established venture capital funds like Norrsken, family offices like IPGL, and successful investors like Stuart Rose (Chairman of Asda).
And Sunsave is authorised and regulated as a lender by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which means our customers will always be protected and treated fairly.
Solar subscriptions are also a proven model in many other countries, and we’re made up of an experienced team with an outstanding track record.
🌞 You'll own your system throughout its lifespan
With Sunsave Plus, you own your system from the day it’s installed.
This means that, unlike some other solar products with roof leases, nobody can remove the system from your property or change the terms of your repayments without your consent.
🛠️ Back-up providers would carry out maintenance if Sunsave was unable to
If Sunsave UK was to run into any trouble, Sunsave Holdings is still legally required to uphold its maintenance obligations to you under the Sunsave Guarantee.
Sunsave Holdings would appoint another maintenance provider to carry out maintenance using the reserves stored in its own, ring-fenced bank account.
Through the process of developing Sunsave Plus, we have identified several potential back-up providers who would carry out the maintenance services, should it ever be required.
A solar & battery system is a significant investment, so it’s vital that it works reliably for years to come. That’s why, to give you total peace of mind, every Sunsave Plus subscription is covered by the Sunsave Guarantee.Â
And we’ve put in place a resilient company structure to ensure that your system will have monitoring & maintenance support for the full subscription term, even in the unlikely event that Sunsave encounters issues in the future. Read on to find out more.
Sunsave has been built to last
In an industry where solar installers regularly come and go, we’ve built the foundations to ensure that Sunsave is around for many years to come.
We’ve got serious financial backingÂ
Our innovative product has attracted financial backing from a wide range of investors, including established venture capital funds like Norrsken, family offices like IPGL, and successful investors like Stuart Rose (Chairman of Asda).Â
In fact, we’ve raised over £9.2 million in the two years since Sunsave was founded.
On top of this, we’ve been awarded £2 million from the UK government’s Green Home Finance Accelerator (GHFA) to support the development and launch of our solar subscription.
We’re FCA regulated and fully accredited
Sunsave is authorised and regulated as a lender by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which means our customers will always be protected and treated fairly. We’ve demonstrated to the FCA that our business practices are robust and sustainable, and we have an obligation to demonstrate a fair relationship between the cost of our product and the benefit it provides.
Our installation processes are of the highest quality, as evidenced by the fact we’ve secured every major accreditation in the solar industry. You can’t build for the future if you cut corners, and we haven’t.
Our accreditations include Flexi-Orb, the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), Which? Trusted Trader, the Energy Performance Validation Scheme (EPVS), and the HIES Consumer Code.Â
To find out more, check out the guide to our accreditations.
It’s a proven model
Sunsave Plus might be new to the UK, but solar subscriptions have become very popular in other countries, such as the US, Germany, Spain and New Zealand. Households in all of these countries are dealing with the same problems as we’re seeing in the UK; high energy bills and unaffordable solar.Â
It’s no surprise, then, that the concept of switching to solar at no upfront cost has such global appeal. For example, Sunrun the US-based solar subscription provider recently announced they had over 950,000 customers, and SolarZero in New Zealand has a 54% share of new residential rooftop installs.
We’re an experienced team with an outstanding track record
To make solar accessible for all, we need experience on our side. And that’s why we’ve hired a team of people who’ve built world-changing products at other companies. Our experts have decades of experience in the energy industry (SSE, Bulb, OVO) and in financial services (Monzo, Wise, Worldpay).
We’ve already installed more than 2,000 solar panels across England and Wales, using best-in-class kit and adhering to the highest installation standards.Â
And you don’t just have to take our word for it: we have over 100 reviews across Trustpilot, Feefo and Which?, and a Trustpilot score of 4.7 out of 5.Â
Sunsave Plus has been built to last
We’ve put a lot of time and effort into building a resilient business that offers products for the long term, and we place our customers’ interests at the centre of everything we do.
That’s why, irrespective of what happens to Sunsave in the future, as a Sunsave Plus customer you’re protected in two key ways.Â
1. You own your system. With Sunsave Plus, you own your system from the day it’s installed. This means, unlike some other solar products with roof leases, nobody can remove the system from your property or change the terms of your repayments without your consent.
2. Your Sunsave Guarantee is protected. A big benefit of Sunsave Plus is the Sunsave Guarantee, because it ensures your system will produce clean, green electricity for years to come - and you'll remain protected by the Sunsave Guarantee for the duration of your subscription.
How is your Sunsave Guarantee protected?
We’ve put in place a resilient company structure which ensures your solar & battery system will have monitoring & maintenance support for the full subscription term.
In the unlikely event that our operating company encounters financial difficulty in the future, the reserves to pay for maintenance would be protected. Â
This is because your maintenance contract is deliberately held in a dedicated company, Sunsave Holdings, which is ring-fenced - meaning the maintenance reserves are held in bank accounts that are separate from Sunsave UK, our main operating company. Sunsave Holdings then subcontracts Sunsave UK to carry out maintenance services.Â
You can find more information about Sunsave UK and Sunsave Holdings on Companies House.
Back-up providers would carry out maintenance if Sunsave was unable to
If Sunsave UK was to run into any trouble, Sunsave Holdings is still legally required to uphold its maintenance obligations to you under the Sunsave Guarantee. Sunsave Holdings would appoint another maintenance provider to carry out maintenance using the reserves stored in its own, ring-fenced bank account.
Through the process of developing Sunsave Plus, we have identified several potential back-up maintenance providers who would carry out the maintenance services, should it ever be required.
